About Us
The Park Slope Minyan meets for Friday
night services every other week. We find this is
a nice balance for people who need to get their
fix on the off-weeks at Bnai’ Jeshurun/Hadar/Kol
Zimrah/the movies. Our current schedule has us meeting
the second Friday of the month at Congregation
Beth Elohim (see directions to the right). Though
we’re unaffiliated with this synagogue, they
give us use of this cozy, warm space (not cozy like
a tiny Manhattan studio, but cozy as in nice lighting,
hardwood floors, and a large eating space).
Our lay-led services - sans
rabbi - consist of kabbalat shabbat and ma’ariv,
incorporating tunes from Carlbach, the conservative
movement, camp, Hadar, and anywhere else that our
members pray and learn new melodies. Services last
about an hour, and are followed by kiddush and a
vegetarian potluck dinner with more singing and
shmoozing.
